A boat tour from the Darsena in Ferrara on the Po di Volano, an ancient branch of the Po Delta that, together with the Po di Primaro, gave rise to the city’s first settlement during the Byzantine period. We’ll cruise along the waters of the ancient riverbed, which runs parallel to the city walls for a long stretch, catching sight of the towers of the Estense Castle and the medieval bell towers in the square until we spot the bell tower of the first Cathedral of San Giorgio, located across from the city’s defensive bastion, and reach the Ferrara countryside.
